Information
Osaka Castle: Japan’s iconic landmark
Osaka Castle, located in the city of Osaka, Japan, is known for its unique design, with several towers stacked on top of each other. This is different from the palaces found in Korea. The current version of Osaka Castle is not the original one. The first castle was destroyed during war, and the present-day structure was rebuilt in the 20th century. Today, the first through seventh floors of the castle are dedicated to a historical exhibition showcasing important events, and the eighth floor features an observation deck with views of Osaka.
Around 450 years ago, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who unified Japan, began building Osaka Castle to showcase his power and influence. The original castle was decorated with gold, making it incredibly grand. Unfortunately, it was destroyed during various wars. The castle faced numerous hardships, such as being hit by lightning and bombed, leading to more damage. But it was eventually repaired and now looks as it does today.
