I am Pythagoras, the most famous mathematician in the world. Even if you’re not a big fan of math, you’ve probably heard my name before. The reason I’m famous is because of tiles.
I was born on the island of Samos, which is part of modern-day Turkey. I traveled across the world, from Egypt to India, to search for truth. Later, I opened a school in Italy and taught that “Everything in the world is made of numbers!” At my school, people had to wear only white clothes, and I told them not to eat meat, food that had fallen on the ground, or even beans!

One day, while I was walking, Ihorter sides of a right triangle equals the square of the longest side. Isn’t that amazing?
This discovery is now called the Pythagorean Theorem, and it’s named after me.
